Greetings everyone! This is my first blog…I recently returned from DC/VA this past weekend. I had the honor of attending Madame Raqia Hassan workshop yet again…twice in one year is an unbelievable treat!!! what can I say but that I could sit and watch Raqia all day…enthralled…her face is so expressive and her style so her own… When she dances, immediately one can tell that she loves the dance. She is sassy, flirty, relaxed, confident, coy and sensual combine that with incredible musicality and technique… *sigh* … heaven…
What she told me will remain with me for always…”the more you love this dance, the more it will love you back”
For those of you saying “Who?!” Raqia Hassan is one of the top choreographers in Egypt. Formerly a principal dancer with the National Folkloric Troupe of Egypt, Madame Raqia has trained, Mona el Said, Dina, Amani, Soraya, Dandash, and Randa Kamal, she currently works with some of the top dancers that grace the stages of the East and all the top dancers in Egypt.
Sounds like a blast Jaida! You probably passed within 10 minutes of my place!
